Clothing

We are big believers in play and sometimes it means we get dirty, wet, paint, etc.  Please send your child in clothes that can withstand “hands on” activities and also allow your child to move freely.  Please remember to dress your child according to the weather and send a change of clothes in case we need to change.  Please label all personal items that are sent to the center.

Cubbies and Personal Belongings

Each child will have a cubbie to put his/her belongings in.  We recommend that only necessary items are to be brought to school.  If money or valuable items are brought to school, the teacher will place them in the office with the child’s name on it.  We will have show and tell once a month and children are encouraged to bring items about the theme or book.  Please do not bring any toys to school.

Discipline

The Eaton Early Learning Center has center rules that ensure safety, comfort and happiness.  We are also firm believers in appropriate discipline.  Harsh punishment is not necessary but instead we use redirection, positive reinforcement, talking with the child and separation of the child from problem situations.  We will discuss any matter with the parents explaining the situation and the course of action that was taken.  We believe in meeting the needs of children socially and emotionally and will strive to have the children problem solve as much as possible.

Family and Parent Involvement

We encourage constant communication with parents and teachers or staff.

The Early Learning Center will provide:

  • A monthly newsletter.

  • A weekly newsletter with a parent topic article.

  • Access to child’s work and progress reports through parent teacher conferences and on a daily basis.

  • Maintain and strongly encourage an open door policy and parent involvement.

  • Provide an Eaton Early Learning Center Survey two times a year.

Field Trips

We will be taking field trips as a group in the course of the year.  Parents are required to sign a permission slip before any trip is taken.  The Eaton Early Learning Center follows Colorado State Laws regarding car seat use.  Any child under 4 years old between 20-40 pounds is required to be properly restrained in a forward facing child safety seat.  Any child at least 4 years old but less than 6 or at least 40 pounds and less than 55" tall is required to be properly restrained in a child booster seat or a safety belt positioning device.  Children at least 6 years old and at least 55" tall must wear a safety belt.  Children will always be restrained in a safety device and are not permitted to stand or sit on the floor and arms, legs, and head must remain inside the vehicle at all times.  Children will not be left unattended in the vehicle.  All teachers will have a first aid kit and be current with First Aid and CPR classes.  If parents are helping with the field trip, they will be asked to show proof of insurance, current drivers license and will also be required to carry a first aid kit with them.

Sign In/Sign Out

All children must be signed in at the time of arrival and signed out at the time of pick-up.  Children will only be released to adults listed on your child’s authorization form.  If someone other than those listed needs to pick up your child send a signed and dated note to school.  We will also be asking for at least one form of identification from this individual.  Please notify your child’s teacher if your child will be leaving school prior to his/her regular pick-up time.  We have a special instruction sheet in which we ask that you write any messages down for teachers.  The teachers use the attendance and instruction sheets throughout the day to account for all the children.  At the end of the day, the last teacher at the center will check the sign out sheet as well as check all rooms in the building to make sure everyone has been picked up and is accounted for.
